Species very similar to Lepra amara but which differs from it by its thallus formed of folds and furrows radiating from the center and giving warts or papillae whose apex breaks to reveal discrete punctate soralia (not giving rounded and globular soralia). Very rarely with aborted and sterile apothecia. C-, K-, KC + violet, P-. Uncommon taxon occurring on smooth bark trees in humid forests, rarely on woods or mossy rocks.
