Cladonia cervicornis forma

Synonyms:

Family: CLADONIACEAE

Habitat: Aerohaline zone

Description

This form differs from the type by the abundance of its podetia terminated by cups bearing at the margin numerous apothecia and brown pycnidia with often a few podetions originating at the bottom of the cup but forming only one tiers. Podetia are always well above the primary thallus and they turn brown very quickly before becoming blackish-brown, gray-blackish. This form appears to have limited habitat to the aerohaline moorland atop the very exposed and very sunny seaside cliffs where it mixes with other Cladonia.
