Description

      Persistent primary thallus formed of small erect scales 1-3 mm high, greenish-grey upper surface, whitish lower surface. Scyphus-shaped podetions, 1-2 cm high with a short stipe bearing a regular cup, greenish-gray, greenish-brown, browning but not blackening or graying, presence of soredia, first fine then granular and sometimes small scales especially towards the base. Very rare apothecia, at the margins of the cups, brown. Ascospores simple, elliptical, hyaline. Pycnidia frequent at the margins of the cups, dark brown. Photobiont: chlorococcoid. C+ yellow, K+yellow, KC+ brownish, Pd+ red-orange, UV-. Taxon found in the woods on sandy or stony soils that are not very acidic (Kersantite).

N.B. Taxon still confused (the chemical reactions indicated being variable depending on the authors) and sometimes considered as a chemotype of Cladonia chlorophaea.

N.B. Taxon presented here with the usual reservations (Cf.) because it has not been chemically analyzed.
