Lecanora epanora  (Ach.) Ach.

Synonyms:

Family: LECANORACEAE

Habitat: Montane

Description

Thallus crustose, areolate, areoles verrucose or convex, aggregated or dispersed, yellow-greenish, bottle-green, areoles more or less covered with soralia and soredia, pale green, bright green-yellow, potentially forming granular heaps, prothallus absent or when visible blackish. Apothecia rare, sessile, 0.5-2 mm diam., disc plane, brown-yellow, exciple well-developed, lobate and flexuous, sometimes sorediate, concolourous. Ascospores simple, colourless, broadly ellipsoid, 8-12 x 5-6.5 µm. Photobiont: Trebouxia. Chemical spot tests negative. Rare, montane trends, on iron-rich rocks. Not yet found or reported in our prospection area, but many sites are potentially favourable to its propagation, notably the ancient slate schists quarries in the Finistere center. Possibly mistaken with Lepraria which, at a glance, has a similar aspect.*
