Characterized by its chemical spot tests: C-, K+ yellow, bright yellow not turning to red, KC+ bright yellow without red tinge, Pd-, and by its general aspect similar to Ramalina cuspidata s.l., tufted, erect, branches strap-shaped and not terete, apices most often rounded sometimes dichotomous, surface markedly uneven to coarse due to pycnidia, dull pale grey. Apothecia lateral or terminal, rather frequent, flat to convex, thalline exciple inconspicuous or excluded, pale pink-beige. Common on large siliceous exposed rocks in aerohaline heathlands. Easily breakable with branches often eroded or parasited.*
