Evernia prunastri forma

Synonyms:

Family: PARMELIACEAE

Habitat: Sub-montane

Description

Differs from the Evernia prunastri var. prunastri type by the rather limited number of branches, the branches aspect: larger (>5 mm) and longer (3 cm) green, greenish, yellowish-green and the presence of very numerous soredia on the upper face which can form a network of meshes, and also on the lower face but less numerous. A rare form found on the bark of trees in very humid hilly forests subject to numerous fogs, but also on isolated trees along rivers. This form can be taken for a species of Ramalina but unlike Ramalina the underside of its branches is white and its upper side greenish.

N.B. Seems to be a form of "suffering" from very moist areas.
