Physconia distorta var. subvenusta Cromb.

Synonyms:

Family: PHYSIACEAE

Habitat: Ubiquitous

Description

Differs from Physconia distorta var. distorta by its apothecia of which the exciple has elongate foliose lobules that give a daisy flower-like aspect, by the colour of lobes, greener even when dry. Lower surface of lobes dark to blackish. Rather rare taxon, on mossy deciduous tree trunks in hot and humid locations. N.B. Easily confused with Physconia venusta of which the lobes, bronze or slightly khaki when dry, are narrower and more divided, and the lower surface paler or whitish, and foremost is a mediterranean species absent in Brittany. N.B. Intermediate specimen between the two morphs seem to exist.*
