Persistent primary thallus, not very abundant, formed of small scattered squamules less than 5 mm high, more or less incised margin, pale greenish-gray upper surface, white lower surface. Podetia 1-4 cm high, slender and thin, ending in an obtuse tips or by scyphus most often poorly formed, with or without digitations more or less deformed corticated and covered with granulations and small squamules but sometimes with bare beaches, pale greenish gray. Blackish pycnidia at the edge of the scyphus but also on the podetions. C-, K+ brown-yellow (fumarprotocetraric acid), KC+ yellow, P+ red, UV-. Lignicolous taxon found on dead trunks of Pinus or on soils rich in woody debris in heaths.
