Ramalina requienii (De Not.) Jatta Taxon de Méditerranée
Thallus fruticulose, shrubby, most often erect, 3-5 cm high, composed of divided branches emerging from a single holdfast, branches strap-shaped, 3-6 mm wide, markedly indented towards apices, lace-like, more or less veined or rugose towards the base, numerous granulose or isidioid soredia, mainly marginal, pale grey-greenish when moist, pale grey-yellowish when dry. Apothecia absent or scarce, sessile, concave, 2-4 mm diam.. Ascopores narrowly ellipsoid, slightly bent or straight, 10-12 x 4-5 µm. Photobiont: trebouxioid. C-, K-, KC+ pale yellow, Pd-. Mediterranean stricto sensu, i.e. restricted to the foreshore rocks subjected to seaspray.
N.B. This species is highly variable and accordingly sometimes differently interpreted. Highly variable, rather similar but not to be confused with altered specimen of Ramalina capitata ss. auct. angl. and Ramalina polymorpha s.l. that are not associate with coastal rocks, notably the first one.
