Description
Primary thallus formed of small, barely visible and evanescent squamules, 1-3 mm high, strongly incised and toothed, greenish grey, yellowish green but yellow-brown at the base.
Podetions 3-6 cm high, straight or slightly twisted, unbranched and without scypha at the top but on the contrary pointed, not sorediate, entirely covered with small squamules 2-3 x 1-2 mm, fragile, typically green-yellow (especially towards the base).
Apothecia at the top of the podetions, globose, sessile and sometimes as if stipitate, sometimes numerous and gathered in a bouquet, bright red.
C-, K-, KC+ yellow, UV+ bright white.
