This rare form differs from the type by the presence of numerous apothecia, initially arising from warts, then sessile and finally a little stipitate, concave disc, brown, very sorediate margin. Asci poorly developed and often with aborted contents, utriform with thick walls, 40-65 x 25-35 µm according to our measurements. Spores simple, hyaline, broadly elliptical, 18-24 x 11-14 µm according to our measurements. Same habitat as the much more common sterile form and mixed.
