Polyozosia bandolensis (B. de Lesd.) S.Y. Kondr., Lökös & Farkas = Myriolecis bandolensis (B. de Lesd.) Bertrand, Cl. Roux & Nimis

    Thallus crustose, 1-4 cm across, thick, with fine cracks and areolate, white, white-greyish, chalk-white, areoles bulging towards thallus margin can sometimes (but rarely) take on a lobulated appearance, sometimes limited by a blue-black prothallus. Apothecia numerous, 0.2-0.8 mm diam., innate at first then slightly protruding, more or less distorted under compression within dense clusters. Pale brown disc, becoming stained or completely colored greenish-blue more or less dark by a particular pigment (bandolensis green) and even almost blackish when pigment density is hight, exciple white, sometimes tinged pale blue-greenish. Ascospores simple, broadly ellipsoid, 10-13 x 5-7 µm. Pycnidia sometimes numerous visible by their blue-green ostiole. Photobiont: Trebouxia. Chemical spot tests negative. Calcicolous species, on well-lit and hot surfaces subjected to seaspray on calcareous rocks, dolerite and kersantite. Mediterranean calcicolous species recently discovered on alkaline rocks in the Finistère, and potentially on gneiss rocks (to be confirmed).

_ Probably formerly confused with Myriolecis (Lecanora) albescens which is sometimes a saxicolous species but not especially maritime and which has more convex apothecia with a thinner margin and translucent and opaline colorations.
