     Differs from Physcia adscendens forme corticole by its occurrence on dead wood or worked wood (often in the company of Xanthoria parietina forme lignicole des milieux marins) and by its appearance in very thick and very dense pads formed of squat and very tight lobes in well-developed older specimens.
