Description
Thallus foliose to squamulose, which can form rosettes 2-4 cm in diameter, arranged on a very visible dark blue hypothallus (at least at the margin), formed of large squamules 1-2 mm long with crenulate ends, closely applied to the substrate, gray-blue, gray
-bluish brown, lead gray;

ranular or isidiate-shaped marginal soralia which may cover the entire center of the thallus, forming a crust and leaving only a crown of lobes or squamules at the margin.
Apothecia very rare, 0.3-0.6 mm in diameter, disc concave to plane, brown-red.
Colorless spores with a finely warty epispore, 15-18 x 10-12 µm.
Species of oceanic climates with mountainous tendencies coming among the bryophytes on the trees and more rarely the rocks.
