Nephroma tangeriense (Maheu & A. Gillet) Zahlbr.
Thallus foliose, forming more or less regular rosettes, to 10 cm diam. or more, lobes 2-6 mm wide, thin, breakable when dry, margin crisped and crenulate, small folioles with tips more or less swollen on lobe margins and upper surface. Upper surface smooth to slightly wrinkled, brown-reddish when moist, grey-brownish when dry, lower surface brown-black, notably towards the center. Apothecia rare, 0.5-0.8 mm tall, ear-shaped or reniform, brown-orange. Photobiont: Nostoc. Medulla: K+ purple. Rare, at the base or on mossy exposed rocks in the aerohaline zone together with Lobaria pulmonaria.*
