Heterodermia propagulifera auct. brit. p.p.
Foliose thallus, not very attached to the support, made up of elongated lobes, very jagged and branched, flat, 1-3 mm wide, bearing at their ends labriform marginal soralia, whitish and mealy, smooth and shiny upper surface, greenish in humid weather, very pale gray to glaucous in dry weather, underside non-corticate, smooth with some black rhizines, blackish in the center, ochraceous white at the periphery. Apothecia unknown in our climates. Medulla: C-, K+ yellow then red, KC+/- yellow to red, Pd+ yellow becoming reddish. Corticolous species growing on the large branches of trees (Quercus, etc.) in humid and windy oceanic forests.
N.B. Heterodermia subneglectum occurs in coastal heaths and is Pd-.
N.B. Provisional identification and awaiting clarification because the genus Heterodermia is heterogeneous and the characters used for identifications are unreliable because they are quantitative and variable depending on the authors...
