Pannaria conoplea (Pers.) Bory
Thallus foliose, lobes to 0.5-1 cm, intricate and partially overlapping or rosette-forming 3-5 cm diam., margins ascending, up-turned, incised, upper surface of lobes slightly pruinose, covered with granular or coralloid (gymnidia) lobules, pale grey-bluish, grey, lobules soralia or isidia-like potentially spreading to the whole thallus, grey-blue when moist, dull or pale grey when dry, lower surface markedly tomentose, grey-brownish to grey-blackish tinged blue. Apothecia usually absent or extremely rare, 0.5-1 mm diam., disc brown-red, margin isidiate. Ascospores simple 15-19 x 9-10 µm without perispore, 20-24 x 10-12 µm with perispore. Cortex: C-, K-, KC-, Pd+ red-orange. Oceanic trends, on mossy trunks (mainly at their base) of trees in old oceanic woodlands, very seldom on mossy rocks in the same forests.
