Abrothallus welwitschii Mont. ex. Tulasne
Lichenized ascomycete fungus.
No thallus. Apothecia developing on lobes surface of host, 0,4-0,6 mm in diameter. initially flat and immersed just beneath the surface of host lobes, then convex and emerging, finely protruding and almost sessile, old apothecia, when falling, leave a depressed circular scar, rough surface, blackish with a characteristic greenish pruina when fresh, no visible margin. Large ellipsoid spores, unequally binocular, brownish and punctated, 14-17 x 5-7 µm. Lichenized fungus living on Sticta and more specifically Sticta limbata et Sticta fuliginosa and may be some other Sticta species. The anamorph is a VOUAUXIOMYCES that can be seen as black pycnidia on the host lobes surface.*
