Phlyctis agelaea (Ach.) Flot. Old & dry.
Thallus crustose up to 5-12 cm in its greatest length, more or less cracked or warty, greyish white, whitish, without soralia, hypothallus sometimes present whitish, delimiting. Apothecia buried by 2-4 in the center of flattened, irregular and powdery or granular warts 0.2-0.8 mm in diameter, greyish-brown disc, reddish, not very visible because very pruinose (in practice on this old and dry form we only see a flat, grainy wart). Muriform spores from asci with 2 spores, broadly elliptical apiculate, colorless then brownish, 45-80 x 12-30 µm. C-, K + yellow then red, KC + red, P + orange, UV-. Rare species occurring on non-resinous trees with more or less smooth bark in sheltered areas with little sunlight. See Pertusaria multipuncta which is K + yellow.
