Graphina pauciloculata Coppins & P. James
Thallus crustose, rather thin, more or less smooth, pale grey or grey-green, continuous. Apothecia lirelliform, usually numerous, 0.5-1.5 x 0.3-0.5 mm, superficial with a basis slightly immersed in thallus, straight, slightly curved or flexuose, frequently tightly clustered but not overlapping, blackish, disc a narrow slit. Ascospores colourless, becoming submuriform with 1-2 longitudinal and 3-4 transverse septa. Pycnidia numerous. Photobiont: Trentepohlia. Chemical spot tests negative. Rare, hyperoceanic, on smooth bark of deciduous trees in open to extremely sheltered, moist woodlands.
_ This species resembles to aborted specimen of Allographa anomala with which it frequently is associated (apothecia of both species may be found on the same thallus), but different with less prominent, smaller and sometimes clustered apothecia and its ascospores less muriform. See also Ascodichaena rugosa that grows in the same locations but with ascomata lirelliform, short to distorted, irregularly clustered in a black zone.
