Ramalina cuspidata Chem. stenoclada

    Chemotype: C-, K+ yellow > red (seldom red-orange), KC+ yellow tinged red, Pd+ golden yellow to orange.  Most often erect, but sometimes pendent, on vertical walls. Branches elongate, narrow, often flattened towards the base and apices, apices more or less pointed. Pycnidia visible on the upper surface of branches mainly towards the base and apices, ostioles blackish, apothecia rather numerous, lateral and apical. Colour: pale grey-greenish when moist turning to ivory when dry. Slightly nitrophilic, on rocks in the xeric supralittoral zone. N.B. This morph may be difficult to distinguish in some cases from some forms of Ramalina siliquosa s.l. that grow nearby or together and also from Ramalina cuspidata Chem. cuspidata f. cuspidata that is K+ golden yellow not turning red . Seems, at least in part, to correspond to Ramalina cuspidata Chem. a, which is C-, K+ yellow > red, KC+ yellow tinged red, Pd+ orange.*
