Xanthoparmelia conspersa forma Cf.
Xanthoparmelia protomatrae ss. auct. nord. ?
Always fertile, in addition, differs from the Xanthoparmelia conspersa type by the complete absence of isidia, and by different chemical reactions. May be found on siliceous rocks or walls near the seashore, forming small colonies, separate from the much more common Xhanthoparmelia conspersa. The Xanthoparmelia conspersa and Xanthoparmelia stenophylla complex is still too confused and awaits revision and consequently here we suggest the provisional name of Xanthoparmelia conspersa forma since it shares more characteristics with Xanthoparmelia conspersa than with Xanthoparmelia stenophylla. N.B. It seems that Bristish and Scandinavian authors call this taxon Xanthoparmelia protomatrae (Gyeln.) Hale.
