Fellhanera viridisorediata Aproot, A. M. Brand & Spier
Thallus crustose, thin, effuse and coating, minutely granulose, grey-brownish to greenish, covered with farinose soredia and pustulous or crater-shaped soralia, to 0.1 mm tall (more than the thallus thickness), bright green when moist, grey-green when dry. Apothecia scarce, adnate or at apex of pseudo-stipes, 0.2-0.7 mm diam., disc flat, slightly convex, dark brown, exciple persistent, wavy, brown-yellow. Ascospores broadly ellipsoid, apices rounded, coated with a gelatinous layer, (0)-1-septate, 14-17 x 3.5-5.5 µm. Chemical spot tests negative. Rare, or understated, in oceanic woodlands, on bark of small branches, twigs, petioles of shrubs and trees: Alnus, Populus, Salix, etc., also on leaves of evergreen trees: Pinus, Abies, Pseudotsuga, etc., seldom on rocks, in shaded and humid areas.
