Candelariella coralliza forme lignicole
This form thrives on top of perching birds wood poles near the seashore, partially protected by tall grass. This substratum is highly exposed to wind and sun and dryness, except during rainy periods. Highly enriched by bird droppings. Thallus thick, markedly cracked, golden yellow to gingerbread. Apothecia scarce, sometimes clustered and forming small heaps. Similar, in these specific habitat, to Candelariella vitellina f. flavovirella that grows on humid shaded wood. It exemplifies the difficulty to distinguish Candelariella vitellina from Candelariella coralliza in habitats near the seashore where numerous intermediate forms may be found.
