Herteliana gagei fertile.
Here we present a fertile form of Herteliana gagei with well-developed apothecia. Rare, only in very favourable locations in old oceanic woodlands, on vertical walls of mossy humid rocks near streams and rivers. Apothecia immersed at first, brown-red, becoming sessile, dark brown-red, disc flat to slightly convex, exciple thin, paler, pycnidia usually numerous, minute volcano-shaped. In rare favourable conditions, apothecia achieve full maturity, and then brown-blackish to black, convex with inconspicuous exciple.
