Xanthoria parietina forme saxicole des rochers alcalins de la zone mésique.
This form is found on more or less alkaline, neutral or slightly acid calcareous rocks, or on siliceous rocks rendered alkaline by birds manure, and subjected to seaspray. Characterized by its luxurious aspect in nutrient-rich areas (notably bird perching rocks) and by its very numerous apothecia, large, sessile and markedly crowded. Exciple crenulate, turning to white. Rather common in relatively protected coastal areas. N.B. This taxon might also be considered as a luxurious form of Xanthoria parietina s.l..
